first month on birth control

July 27, 2018

move along if the reality of life is too much for ya…

TMI ALERT

so, my chat with the doc about different bc options went really well. except for the fact that i asked about getting my tubes tied and she made a scrunchy face and said she wouldn’t recommend it (for women who haven’t given birth).

we talked about IUDs, the pill, the shot, and one that i hadn’t thought about, the nuvaring. since i am wary about how the hormones will affect me,  i didn’t really want to jump into something as permanent as an IUD or something as long-lasting as the shot (plus, that would require quarterly visits to a nurse), so i went with the ring.

the concept is pretty neat, the ring is placed up near the cervix and stays there for three weeks. then it’s removed and a new one goes in one week later.

i don’t appear to have gained any weight, but it’s had an adverse effect on my face. lots of chin and cheek acne… thankfully, birchbox had sent me a “congested skin serum” some months ago and it actually works wonders.

i’m on the “out week” until sunday and just got my period this morning, so it’ll be interesting to see if shark week is less painful or annoying than it has been.

Don’t hold this against me.

You’ve found the legacy blog. It’s twenty-some years of writing, in roughly the state I left it. Spacer GIFs, old jokes, posts that did not age well; some of it is fine, some of it is a basement. I keep it online because the work was real, and because deleting old posts would feel like editing my own past.

If you’d rather see current writing, the writing page is the right door.
