the game will probably be cancelled.. which sucks, since everyone had a great time practicing yesterday.. but is only good because of the fact that a 6:00 game is the hardest one to organize for since it’s the first scheduled game of the evening and it’s immediately after most people get done with work. Hopefully the weather will start cooperating. There’s also no game on the 26th (next Monday) since it’s the observed Memorial Day. Hope these kids don’t forget how to catch a ball! :)

previous entry comment

someone asked if i’m hap hap hap lee married because kurt’s garlic toast didn’t turn out well. the answer is an obvious yes, and i hope it didn’t come across to anyone else that i might think garlic toast is the basis of a hap hap hap ee marriage. :)

ain’t no thang but a chicken wing on a string.
1. What drinking water do you prefer — tap, bottle, purifier, etc.?
this is vaguely like the this-or-that. i wish we had a culligan-like water service at work.
2. What are your favourite flavor of chips?
dill pickle. jalapeño is a close second.
3. Of all the things you can cook, what dish do you like the most?
a grilled cheese.
4. How do you have your eggs?
5. Who was the last person who cooked you a meal? How did it turn out?
kurt made spaghetti a little while ago, but the garlic toast didn’t turn out so well.

without content

there is no blog. without blog, there is no fame. so i’ll just steal some again: this-or-that tuesday’s potpurri edition brought to you on a thursday.
1. Packrat or minimalist?
i’m a minimalist packrat. i save a bunch of stuff and then every 6 months or so, i go through it and toss, shred, or deliver to svdp.
2. Computer: desktop or laptop?
desktop. i could never get over the cost of a laptop and the cost of the parts that i would want to put into it.
3. Seashore or mountains?
somewhere in the middle.
4. Carpeting or bare floors?
hmm.. i like carpeting in the winter, but bare floors look a lot nicer and you can swiffer them.
5. Drinking water: bottled or tap?
bottled, until the bottle is emptied by drinking, then tap.
6. Shopping websites: eBay or Amazon?
no one should stick with one or the other on this. you have to research to get a good deal on eBay, and you have to want something in two days on Amazon.
7. Cute little kitties or big scary tigers?
8. Front door or back door?
[ahem], i don’t think that’s anyone’s business.
9. Lots of jewelry, or little/none?
i guess i have lots.
10. Thought-provoking question of the week: At the last minute, you obtain tickets to an event you’re dying to attend. However, you have to work that day! Do you ask the boss for the time off, or just call in sick?
call in! i don’t get sick time just so i can go to the dr.!

balancing your checkbook

So, I keep a little Excel spreadsheet that looks like a check register which simply helps me add and subtract. It’s the only reason I use duplicate checks. Anyhow, I’m having trouble figuring out where I’ve subtracted a generous amount of money that the bank seems to think I still have. Believe you me, I’d mind a lot more if it were the other way around, but it still makes me feel like I don’t know what I’m doing. I mean, I even found a significant deposit that I neglected to record. What’s the point of keeping track if I can’t even keep track?

to coin a phrase

Actually, I can’t take any credit for it.. My friend-turned-back-to-cali from work referred to my lunch habits as “al desko”. So, since she’s now westward bound, I’m back to al desko lunching. It’s not as depressing as most people would assume. I’m not saying that I really /enjoy/ it, but it beats sitting at a round table with the 8 people that you work with every single day; that’s what everyone here does, you know. However, I’d /much/ rather work 2 blocks from the Weary Traveler and have their West of the Andes sandwich every single day of my life.. but, that’s just me.

Mickey’s Softball, part deux

I didn’t see you at the game! Final score was 15-6, Mickey’s losing to the Beavers. Though this score looks painful, it’s not nearly as bad as one of the losses last season (32-3 or something like that). My knitted water bottle holder got rave reviews!

Mickey’s Softball

Well, it looks like the weather will hold out for Mickey’s Softball tonight. It’s at 7p, at Warner #2. Join us!

for the last couple days I was wondering to myself, how hard would it be to revert to someone who is not interested in computers. Like, I’d just quit my job, open a yarn store on Willy St. and knit all day. I’d pay someone else to do all the paperwork, and someone else to do the taxes. I wouldn’t have email, or a website, or a blog. I wouldn’t know exactly what to do when my computer tells me I have a virus and I wouldn’t feel comfortable editing my registry. I’m not sure I would like it, but it’d be fun to try for a week.
