nice weekend

The Willy St Fair indicates the end of summer every year, in my eyes.. and that indication came yesterday. I had my first falafel and kicked myself for not having one sooner. Now I’m hopping on the fried chickpea bandwagon. Yum.

yarnyarnyarn

so busy at work, i forgot to do the fridayfive! good thing, too, because it’s lame. for me anyhow. i got my dreamed-about-hat yarn today and still havn’t opened the box. hold on… damn. i can’t load the pics because my usb is freaking out. nevermind.

more funny search hits

i’m always amused by these. here are a few that have gotten people to my site in the last month. fortunately, the references are coming mostly from other people’s comments on my blog. david’s jamaican madison best friend wife skinny dip highest selling sunday paper in january “blowjob advice” -porn yoga mat maroon doo rag juice container superlol girl having lollipop

omg

dinner last night was delectible! i had a seared tuna steak and kurt had the crab legs. we went home over-full. i just couldn’t leave food that good on the plate. then we went to opus to have an after-dinner drink. it was almost empty and the bartender was very nice. then we came home and played mancala, jenga, and boggle. fun!

dream

i had a weird-o dream last night that i was yarn shopping and found a hat that i just have to make (in real life). the shop owner called it her “willie nelson hat”. the only thing that made it vaguely willie nelson-ish was the two long straps on the side that look like his braids. the rest of the hat was striped. i now need to order yarn to make it.

it’s not fall yet!

but, the new knitty is up. mostly coats and sweaters, things that take me too long; being a child of the instant gratification age.. but i might try that scarf. it looks fancy.
i’m in excellent spirits today knowing that i don’t have to come into work tomorrow. kurt and i have planned a delicious meal at the blue marlin this evening. their oysters rockefeller are scrumptious.

day 258

it’s the 258th day of the year. my calendar at work tells me that and it also tells me how many days until the last day of the year. 107. kinda depressing. i got much knitting done over the weekend. i finished the jester hat yesterday morning and went back to working on the produce bag. the steering wheel cover hasn’t kept my interest for more than 5 minutes, so it’s still sitting 12% done on the coffeetable. oh! wednesday is my 1 year wedding anniversary. i should give kurt a blank piece of paper.* :) *edited to add: kurt is a hard person to gift. he’s very decided and spontaneous; which means, when he comes across something he wants, he buys it, leaving me with no chance to keep a backlog of items that he might want. maybe i should encourage him to start an amazon wish list.

football.

i started to embrace it last year; now i’m just all for it. we had people over last Sunday to watch “the game” and i made a snack-ey treat for everyone. it was well received and i didn’t have any leftover. i will share it with you now:
Taco Sundae
Ingredients: 1 bag Morningstar Farms Grillers (equiv. 1lb. browned ground beef)
1 packet La Preferida taco seasoning (or brand of your choice)
1 8oz can vegetarian refried beans
3/4 cup shredded lettuce
3 husky Roma tomatoes (seeded and diced)
1/2 cup diced onion
1/4 cup lite sour cream
10 sliced black olives
1/2 cup shredded Monterey Jack cheese
Prepare Grillers as directed, adding taco seasoning when heated. Remove and cool. Layer a 1.5 qt dish in this order: beans, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions. When Grillers are cool, spoon on top and refrigerate over night. Before serving, spread sour cream on top and sprinkle with olives and shredded cheese. Present with a serving spoon and serve with tortilla chips.

it’s been a while since i’ve even been able to sleep past 8 on a weekend. i stayed out pretty late last night though… my friday night pool date was able to come down to the tavern for the first time in almost 3 months! he and i ran the table for about 2 hours. actually, he did, i was just shooting and scratching every time. i started knitting a jester hat for a co-worker’s niece yesterday and am already 25% finished. i get to go to the east side wisconsin craft market (dare i check out michael’s? even though it’s a chain? then i’ll probably get sidetracked in target? even though it’s a chain) because my upstairs neighbor put in a request for 3 hat/scarf sets for holiday gifts.
